Associate of Science

The Business Management program prepares students for an entry level positions within the major areas of business such as accounting, marketing and management.  Graduates may qualify for a training program in business and industry, government or nonprofit organizations. This program is also appropriate for employees in entry-level management positions who seek to enhance their job skills and advance their careers.

Students can pursue a focus in human resource management, marketing or small business management through restricted electives. Students may also pursue the general management focus which affords flexibility in general business electives as they determine a specific area of interest.

The Marketing focus outlines electives that prepares students for work as sales representatives, customer service agents, inside sales support specialists or market research assistants.

The Human Resource focus outlines electives that prepares students for positions as human resource assistants, assistant training and development specialists, interviewers and compensation and benefits support staff.

The Small Business Management focus includes electives related to working for small businesses as well as acquainting an aspiring small business owner with the tools needed to successfully run a business.

The General Business focus allows students to pursue a variety of business electives to help prepare them to work as first line supervisors or administrative support staff.

Upon successfully completion, the graduate will:

  1. Critique the organization’s use of business concepts related to marketing, management and accounting.
  2. Solve business problems through analysis and critical thinking.
  3. Demonstrate competency in oral and written communications used in business.
  4. Discriminate between valid and invalid sources of information as a means of reporting on current trends in business.
