Certificate
The Building Automation Systems program aims to establish foundational knowledge and comprehension of Building Automation Systems (BAS) technology, enabling students to understand the intricate interplay between various systems within a building. Through a blend of theoretical and hands-on coursework, students gain proficiency in building control systems and understand the critical role of HVAC systems in building comfort and efficiency. The students develop expertise in optimizing energy consumption and reducing a buildings environmental impact while also acquiring skills in diagnosing and rectifying system issues.
Through practical projects and real-world scenarios, students apply their knowledge to design, implement and maintain advanced building automation systems solutions. They also analyze complex building data to make informed decisions for enhancing efficiency and sustainability. Emphasis is placed on HVAC, lighting and access control (security) systems.
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:
- Design, configure, analyze and optimize BAS components and systems to achieve high-performance, sustainable and secure building automation through collaboration and application of energy principles.
- Identify errors and defects within building automation systems and develop effective solutions to ensure optimal functionality, occupant comfort and system communication.
- Demonstrate proficiency in implementing strong cybersecurity measures for building automation systems and their network configuration.
- Analyze building performance through BAS integration and apply technical skills to optimize energy efficiency, sustainability and operational functionality.
