Certificate
This certificate program is designed for persons who desire to improve job skills or who wish to retrain for an entry-level position in the paralegal field. Paralegals are employed by banks, real estate offices, title companies, brokerage houses, corporations, governmental agencies and lawyers/law firms. It is intended primarily for those already holding an academic credential in another field, such as an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree.
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:
- Review case-related materials for civil and criminal litigation.
- Describe legal principles in both traditional and digital environments.
- Identify common legal issues applicable to various areas of substantive law.
- Prepare documents utilized in various areas of substantive law.
- Explain procedural issues which arise in litigation, real estate, probate and criminal law.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of industry terminology and professional tone in all communications.
