Certificate

This certificate program is designed for persons who desire to improve job skills or who wish to retrain for an entry-level position in the paralegal field. Paralegals are employed by banks, real estate offices, title companies, brokerage houses, corporations, governmental agencies and lawyers/law firms. It is intended primarily for those already holding an academic credential in another field, such as an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Review case-related materials for civil and criminal litigation.
  2. Describe legal principles in both traditional and digital environments.
  3. Identify common legal issues applicable to various areas of substantive law.
  4. Prepare documents utilized in various areas of substantive law.
  5. Explain procedural issues which arise in litigation, real estate, probate and criminal law.
  6. Demonstrate appropriate use of industry terminology and professional tone in all communications.
