This program is offered in conjunction with the Joint Apprenticeship Committees of the building trades and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor. Applicants must have earned a Journeyman Certificate in a recognized trade technology. In Pennsylvania, Journeyman Certificates are awarded to graduates of approved apprenticeship certificate programs.

The program prepares students for advancement within the building construction industry by providing a comprehensive overview of the phases of a building construction project. Students examine commercial construction applications and emerging sustainable technologies that influence contemporary construction practices. The curriculum emphasizes practical application, project coordination and construction estimating.

Courses are scheduled during evenings and weekends, enabling students to maintain full-time employment in their trade while completing degree requirements.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Demonstrate trade and construction management skills for professional roles such as estimator, expediter, scheduler and project manager within the building construction industry.
  2. Interpret construction blueprints to delineate accurate job site layouts.
  3. Prepare cost estimates and project quotations for building construction projects using appropriate materials and specifications.
  4. Plan construction workflows and scheduling sequences using effective leadership, communication and problem-solving strategies.
  5. Evaluate commercial construction practices and emerging sustainable technologies relevant to contemporary building projects.
