Associate of Science
This program provides students currently holding a degree or working in an Information Technology field with employment opportunities in application software development. If considering a four-year degree in Computer Science or Software Development, students should discuss with a transfer counselor if a transfer program is more appropriate.
Students obtain a foundation in computer programming concepts, systems development and data modeling. Students learn software development and programming skills using object-oriented languages such as Java, Visual Basic, and C++.
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:
- Apply appropriate software development tools to analyze requirements using appropriate data and work flow models.
- Implement software to collect, process and present data and information used by business and consumers.
- Utilize object-oriented programming constructs for various data types, arrays, methods and graphical user interfaces.
- Implement database management systems to organize, store and retrieve data and information for use by application software.
