BIO 252P - Biology Laboratory Practicum Credits: 2 120 Practicum Hours
Prerequisites: BIO 155 and BIO 156, Cumulative GPA 2.0
Description (Formerly BTC-204P) This laboratory practicum provides students with experience at a university research facility or affiliated biotech industry laboratory. Techniques learned in BIO 155 and BIO 156 are applied in a research setting to give the student more experience while learning practical applications for laboratory procedures. Student performance is evaluated by a faculty coordinator and laboratory supervisor. This course is graded on a pass/fail basis. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Construct a logbook or research notebook of all laboratory/work-related experiences.
- Demonstrate personal and professional skills including an acceptable work record as required by host laboratory.
- Evaluate protocols using proper equipment to collect data in the laboratory.
- Summarize the internship experience in a written document outlining laboratory techniques utilized in the internship.
