RES 111 - Respiratory Care Equipment 1

Prerequisites: CHM 109  or CHM 110  and CHM 111 , MAT 108 , BIO 115  
Co-requisites: PHY 123  and RES 113  

Description
In this course, students learn the relationship between the equipment used in respiratory therapy to the pathological condition of patients. Students explore the use of oxygen therapy and the potential hazards of compressed gases. In addition, students demonstrate the administration of oxygen and lung inflation devices. This course requires a per credit health career fee; check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. List the indications of oxygen therapy.
  2. Describe the hazards of oxygen therapy.
  3. Implement the application of oxygen administration devices.
  4. Demonstrate the administration of lung inflation therapy devices.
