AVT 211L - Commercial Pilot Simulator Credits: 1 1 Skills Lab Hours
Co-requisites: AVT 211
Description AVT-211L is a supplementary lab, independent of the AVT 211 course, created to enhance the commercial pilot’s theoretical knowledge through practical application in a flight simulation setting. This lab utilizes sophisticated flight simulators to enable students to practice FAA regulations, complex aircraft operations, and Crew and Single-Pilot Resource Management (CRM/SRM) skills within realistic flight scenarios. It emphasizes the human factors that impact flight, decision-making capabilities and the rigors of commercial aviation. The lab is designed to fortify students’ preparedness for the FAA Commercial Pilot Knowledge Exam and equip them for future aviation challenges. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Apply theoretical knowledge of commercial regulations and complex aircraft operations in simulated flight scenarios.
- Plan simulated flights in complex aircraft, focusing on high-altitude operations and commercial maneuvers.
- Use Crew and Single-Pilot Resource Management (CRM/SRM) skills in a simulated environment.
- Manage simulated scenarios involving stress, illness, fatigue and other human factors, emphasizing the significance of pilot fitness for flight.
- Develop Aeronautical Decision-Making (ADM) skills within various simulated flight conditions, particularly in risk management.
- Calculate accurate weight and balance for takeoff and landing.
- Assess performance in the simulator to identify improvement opportunities.
- Devise operational efficiency strategies.
