PAL 111 - Litigation 1 Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours An introduction to the differences between civil and criminal litigation with an emphasis on civil litigation. The student learns the rules which govern the lawsuit, the way legal principles are developed from prior court decisions, and types of relief a court can give to a person. The student learns the variety of state and federal courts and their scope of jurisdiction. Emphasis is on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the Federal Judicial Code.
