MMC 225 - Content Management Systems Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours
Prerequisites: CIT 125
Description This course is designed to teach content management systems (CMS) for the publication of web content to web sites. Topics include individual user accounts, administration menus, RSS feeds, customizable layout, flexible account privileges, logging in, blogging systems, creating online forums and modules. Upon completion, students will register and maintain individual user accounts and create a business website or an interactive community website. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Explain the difference between the three kinds of CMS applications.
- Explain why and when WordPress is a good choice for a CMS.
- Install and configure a WordPress site.
- Create pages and posts in CMS.
- Find and use plugins.
- Manage widgets.
- Find and install themes.
- Customize themes.
- Use documentation on the WordPress Application Programming Interface (API).
- Use CMS sites in portfolios.
