NMT 101 - Introduction to Nuclear Medicine Technology Credits: 2 2 Lecture Hours
Description An overview of the nuclear medicine technology career and curriculum. This course requires a per credit health career fee; check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Discuss the concept of hospital record confidentiality.
- Describe the technician’s relationship to the patient and hospital personnel.
- Summarize the history of nuclear medicine.
- Describe the field of nuclear medicine.
- Describe what an NMT does. An acceptable answer shall include both in vivo and in vitro procedures.
- Explain how radiation safety, radiation biology, radiochemistry, radiopharmacy, clinical nuclear medicine relates to the practice of nuclear medicine technology.
- Define and discuss the term, “hospital sepsis.”
- Describe and define emergency complications.
- Describe and define vital signs.
- Definition, demonstration and diagnosing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Procedures for hospital emergencies and natural disasters.
