RTT 203 - Radiation Therapy Technology 1 Credits: 3 3 Lecture Hours
Prerequisites: ARRT Registry in Radiography or B.S. degree with clinical radiation oncology background. Co-requisites: RTT 204C , PHY 125
Description This course provides a study of oncology, basic radiation therapy physics, and treatment planning, as well as the operation and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment. This course requires a per credit health career fee; check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Identify and discuss the policies and procedures of the educational program.
- Identify and define oncology principles and the multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
- Identify the function of all radiation therapy equipment components.
- Define and describe key radiation therapy terminology and procedures.
- Identify and discuss the medico-legal aspects of health care.
- Define and describe importance of radiation safety and protection.
- Identify and define various components of a quality assurance/management program.
- Define concepts of dosimetry and perform simple dose calculations.
