CIT 206 - Administrative Technology and Procedures

Description
This course is a comprehensive application of office technology skills using various computer programs to complete common business tasks including business writing, document formatting, telecommunications, records management, presentations and a variety of essential skills required in today’s business office.


Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Identify the current trends in technology in today’s office environments.
  2. Use various computer applications to create properly formatted business documents according to accepted professional’s styles, including mass mailings.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the use of telecommunications in business including telework or the virtual office.
  4. Properly file, archive and purge records according to Association of Record Managers and Administrators (ARMA) filing rules including electronic filing systems.
  5. Prepare business presentations using PowerPoint including hyperlinks to online resources.
  6. Plan business travel arrangements using the Internet, create itineraries using Word and associated expense reports using Excel.
  7. Plan meetings and conferences using online resources and create attractive agendas, brochures and flyers using desktop publishing.
  8. Prepare outgoing mail according to USPS regulations and private mail services including costs using online resources.
  9. Receive and annotate incoming mail and prepare for distribution.
  10. Use highspeed copy machine and network capabilities for copying, faxing and printing.
  11. Prepare professional documents for career advancement using Internet and other computer applications.
