GGY 201 - Introduction to Geology

Description
This is a course for both science and non-science majors. The aspects of physical and historical geology discussed include but are not limited to volcanism, glaciation, stream development, rock formation, geological record and geological time.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Apply scientific inquiry to the discovery of geology.
- Describe the interior structure of the Earth.
- Distinguish types of rocks and soils on the Earth’s surface.
- Model geological landforms.
- Discuss transient geologic activities and their influence on the evolution of the Eart’s surface.
- Identify the local geology.
- Apply concepts learned in classroom by conducting laboratory experiments and field trips.
