ITP 102 - Special Topics Lab 2 Credits: 4 2 Lecture Hours 2 Lab Hours Prerequisites: ITP 101 This course will engage students in discourse analysis, proper use of the professional register and comparative interpreting styles and settings. Students will review the discourse analysis process for exploring the meaning and complexities of both American Sign Language (ASL) and English in all five register areas. Steps one through five of the ten step discourse model will be addressed, including: prediction, view and recall, content mapping, source language and abstraction. Students will analyze, map and re-tell selected text in both ASL and English using the most appropriate register.
