Prerequisites: MDR 100
A course designed to provide and place emphasis on supervised clinical practice sessions in health information. Analyzing, filing, retrieving records, compiling statistics, abstracting, coding, indexing, and registers are put into practice. Although the majority of experiences will be in the Health Information Department, there is also experience in the hospital emergency room, admitting department, and billing department (if possible). The planning and organization aspects of the hospital and the Health Information Department are experienced during these practice sessions. This course requires a per credit health career fee; check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate.
