WLD 222 - Pipe Welding 1 Basic Credits: 3 2 Lecture Hours 2 Lab Hours Prerequisites: WLD 201 This course provides students with knowledge and skills to effectively begin basic techniques of uphill shielded metal-arc welding (SMAW) for pipe. Uphill welding is generally used on thick-wall pipe. Students will practice their basic skills on metal plates before transitioning to 6” diameter pipe. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and American Welding Society (AWS) code specifications will be followed.
