ART 114 - Two-Dimensional Design

Description
This course involves exploring and completing projects in various media that demonstrates principles of design in black and white, in a number of values and in color. Students study the use of line, value, shape, form/space and color. Projects must show evidence of balance, rhythm, movement, figure-ground, figure-ground reversal, proximity, repetition, closure, perspective, unity and variety and color harmonies.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
- Show proficiency in technical, aesthetic and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively communicate an idea, word or concept.
- Verbally recall the learned concepts in a group critique situation.
- Solve conceptually a visual problem.

- Creative interpretations of the elements and principles of two-dimensional design, which include balance, structure, units, radiation, gradation, anomaly, similarity and implication
- Experimentation in a variety of different media to create effective design
