ART 122 - Painting 1

Prerequisites: ART 109  Recommended.

 
Description
This is a course to teach the fundamentals of painting with oils or acrylics. Emphasis is on color theory and its practical application. Students should have a basic understanding of art composition and the abilities to sketch their concepts.


Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:

  1. Identify various problems in painting
  2. Describe and apply elements of composition, space perspective, color harmony, value and texture
  3. Develop and illustrate personal perception and unique interpretations
  4. Demonstrate a variety of painting techniques
  5. Develop fundamental painting skills
