Associate of Science

This program provides a balanced and flexible curriculum as well as a foundation for exploration and pre-program coursework. It positions students for success in a variety of fields/careers or transfer pathways and communicates to employers and four-year institutions that graduates are knowledgeable individuals capable of making informed decisions. Students should select courses for a personalized plan of study in support of their individual goals.

Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will:

  1. Employ communication skills in order to convey clear and organized information to target audiences for specific purposes.
  2. Use digital technology to complete academic tasks.
  3. Demonstrate informed decision making by identifying problems, evaluating solutions, and revising priorities.
  4. Interpret data and solve problems by applying appropriate mathematical and scientific concepts and theories.
  5. Distinguish among the experiences, practices, and beliefs of diverse cultures.
  6. Acquire and evaluate information through technological and traditional means.

First Semester

Total: 15 Credits

Second Semester

Total: 15-16 Credits

Third Semester

Total: 15-16 Credits

Fourth Semester

Total: 15 Credits

Minimum Credits to Graduate: 60-62

1 Any course numbered 100 or higher may be a General Elective.

2 Mathematics elective must be numbered 100 or higher.

3 Humanities electives must be numbered 100 or higher and from the following disciplines:  Art History and Studio Art (ART), American Sign Language and Culture (ASL), Dance (DAN), English Writing and Literature (ENG)(above the level of 102), Foreign Culture and Language (FCL), Journalism (JRN), Music Theory and Practice (MUS), Philosophy (PHL), Speech (SPH), Theater (THE).

4 Science electives must be numbered 100 or higher and from the following disciplines:  Biology (BIO), Chemistry (CHM), Geology (GGY), Physical Science (PHS), Physics (PHY).

5 Social Science electives must be numbered 100 or higher and from the following disciplines:  Anthropology (ANT), Criminal Justice and Criminology (CJC), Early Education and Child Development (ECD), Economics (ECO), Ethnic and Diversity Studies (ETH), Geography (GEO), History (HIS), Homeland Security (HLS), Paralegal (PAL), Political Science (POL), Psychology (PSY), Sociology (SOC), Social Work (SOW).
